                                            In a Nutshell

I can’t hide it anymore...

I live a double life; corporate professional by day, werewolf by night.

My nocturnal self fights vampires ‘til dawn. By daylight, I am always badly battered, barely spared.

Here is the idea:

There should be a way to marry the sun and the moon. Not to reconcile them, but hoping for a naissance of sorts that may, just may, bring about something that is neither.

When I learned about how Dada disowned aesthetics, my mind was torn in two.

I already knew how to worship at the twin altars of the Ugly and the Beautiful. Now I thought of also disrupting them; going against or beyond them.

Yet it was highly doubtful that one could simply land beyond such norms.

I say Aesthetics; can’t stand it, can’t live without it.

Someone suggested re-inscribing it... Only if I knew how.

In my recent work, I try to make problematic the looks of the image.

Style, here, can be changed more often than shirts.

Subject matter is of secondary, albeit great importance. But the arena where most punches are thrown is just there; aesthetics.

There is usually a starting point, let’s say an impressionist landscape, or an expressionist portrait. Then, the process of querying the aesthetics leaves its mark. The same process also rewrites the whole image.

In my mind, the outcome is always open-ended, in a constant desire to barely approach some unaesthetic...
